Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach a range of high school mathematics courses, which may include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry and/or Calculus.
- Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with state standards and departmental goals.
- Utilize instructional practices that promote critical thinking, reflection, and meaningful discussion.
- Create curricular activities that promote student movement, hands-on learning and collaboration.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative & summative measures and provide timely feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Foster a classroom culture that promotes academic excellence, collaboration, respect, and personal responsibility.
- Serve as a visible and authentic witness to the Catholic faith and Franciscan values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
- Integrate Catholic teachings and the Franciscan charism into classroom instruction once per unit.
- Encourage students' spiritual growth through prayer, reflection, service, and faith-centered dialogue.
- Participate actively in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and other faith formation activities.
- Support the school's mission by fostering a culture of joyful discipleship and Christian witness.
- Maintain accurate records, grades, and communication with students and parents.
- Hold office hours before and/or after school twice per week (same day/time each week) and respond to email and/or phone inquiries within 48 hours during the school week.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-sponsored events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and uphold the mission of the school.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Valid Michigan State Teaching Certification (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Commitment to educating and mentoring young women in a faith-centered environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
