What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Music and Organist (PT) position at Archdiocese of Boston?
The Director of Music will direct and coordinate all musical needs for Mary Queen of Peace Parish and St. Joseph School in coordination with the Pastor. The Director of Music will be responsible for the development and enhancement of a robust program that will strengthen faith in the Eucharist through music.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is 20 hours a week on average with more hours during Christmas and Easter. This position qualifies for the Archdiocese Benefits Package. The salary range is $30-36 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Director of Music at the Parish:
- Plan music and provide accompaniments for all services that require music including weekend Masses( Saturday 4:00, Sunday 10:00, 11:30 and 4:00), as well as:
- Holy Days, Holy Week Liturgies, Multiple Christmas Liturgies, Annual Mass of Remembrance in November, First Holy Communion Masses, Confirmation Masses, Thanksgiving Masses, special school Masses
- Funerals including, as necessary, meeting with families
- Weddings, as necessary, meeting with the bride and groom
- Periodic devotional and seasonal celebrations
- Establish, Maintain & Direct the Volunteer Parish Choir for the 10am and 11:30am Masses including weekly rehearsals and Mass every Sunday
- Oversee care and maintenance of church organs, pianos, and other sound equipment.
- Manage copyright, licensing, and reporting
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in Music Ministry preferred.
- Demonstrate proficiency in organ and Choral skills
- Ability to sing/cantor
- Ability to work well with children & adults and collaboratively with others
- Experience working with and directing a choir
- Comprehensive knowledge of Catholic Church teaching with particular emphasis in liturgical tradition and knowledgeable in wedding, funeral and Sacramental music
- Dependable, responsible, initiative-taking and creative
- Must pass a background check
