Denials Specialist - Patient Financial Services

Description:

Education Requirements: High School Graduate or G.E.D.

Experience: Minimum of three years experience in a patient account setting.

Required Skills: Analytical and organizational skills must be above average. Attention to detail, communication, documentation and public relations skills should be excellent. Time management and productivity must be excellent. Additional skills: Vast knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook a must. CPT and ICD coding skills and medical terminology knowledge a must. Medical Office Technical Degree preferred but not required (work experience can be substituted for degree).

Denials Specialist - PFS Responsible for the timely follow-up on denials of all third party insurance claims for assigned "book" of accounts. Also responsible for the timely movement of accounts through the collection cycle. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence. Uses good judgement through adherence and support of the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the department and institution. Maintains positive interpersonal relationships to promote and maintain the efficiency of the organization. Manages, plans and controls the workflow of the Denials Specialist responsibilities to ensure the completion of work assigned. Contributes to the effective management of the department. Contributes to the effective operations of the Medical Center by demonstrating dependability in job performance.

Physical Demands: Good physical and mental health. Able to work with supervisor and other staff or independently as directed, either by the situation or supervisor and under stressful conditions.
