Position Summary
Archbishop Carroll High School seeks a dynamic, experienced, and mission-driven Principal to lead the school’s academic and student life programs. The Principal serves as the chief academic officer and is responsible for the daily operations of the school, faculty leadership, student achievement, and maintaining a strong Catholic identity.
The Principal reports directly to the President and collaborates to advance the school's strategic goals and mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Catholic Identity
•Model Catholic values in all interactions with faculty, staff, students, families, and the broader community
•Foster and support Catholic beliefs, traditions, and practices
•Uphold the Church’s teachings on social justice and service
•Oversee the planning of liturgical celebrations, including Mass, prayer services, and penance services
•Promote a faith-based school community rooted in Catholic tradition
Academic Leadership
•Provide leadership in curriculum development and instructional excellence
•Oversee academic programs, including AP, Honors, and Dual Enrollment
•Ensure academic rigor and continuous improvement in student achievement
•Monitor academic performance and graduation outcomes
•Encourage innovation in teaching and learning
Faculty and Staff Leadership
•Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff
•Provide and support ongoing professional development
•Foster a collaborative and positive work environment
•Promote accountability and instructional excellence
Student Life and School Culture
•Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
•Oversee student discipline and behavioural expectations
•Support extracurricular activities, athletics, and student leadership
•Encourage student engagement and school spirit
Operational Leadership
•Oversee daily school operations
•Collaborate with the President on strategic planning and implementation
•Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and policies
•Assist in budget planning and resource allocation
•Oversee scheduling and the academic calendar
Community Engagement
•Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and families
•Support admissions and enrollment initiatives
•Represent the school at community and Archdiocesan events
•Support alumni engagement and advancement efforts
Qualifications
•Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education, in accordance with the Archdiocese of Washington
•Certified Catechist (or willingness to obtain certification within three years of hire)
•Minimum of three (3) years of educational leadership or administrative experience
•Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in educational leadership or related field preferred
•Demonstrated leadership, management, and organizational skills
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Experience working in diverse educational environments
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience in Catholic or private school education
•Experience with enrollment growth strategies
•Experience with accreditation processes
•Strong background in curriculum and instruction
