Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have experience working with high school athletes, a strong understanding of sports medicine, and the ability to assist in developing injury prevention programs. This position requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to provide guidance to student-athletes, coaches, and parents. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must also ensure compliance with school policies, WCAC conference regulations, and DCSAA guidelines related to athletic health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of sports-related injuries.
Provide on-site and off-site medical coverage for ACHS practices, games, and other athletic events.
Assist in developing and implementing injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.
Maintain accurate medical records and injury reports for student-athletes.
Support the Head Athletic Trainer in managing the school’s sports medicine program.
Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and proper training techniques.
Assist in coordinating the concussion management protocol and return-to-play procedures.
Ensure compliance with state, conference, and school policies related to athletic health and safety.
Qualifications:
Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC).
Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Washington, DC.
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for athletic events.
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities
Must be able to pass a background check, fingerprinting requirements, CPR certification, and Virtus Online training: Virtus Training
