Job Summary:
The Personal Trainer is responsible for working one-on-one with clients to create customized fitness programs tailored to their individual goals. Personal Trainers guide, motivate, and monitor clients' performance, ensuring proper exercise techniques and a safe, effective workout experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a client base by meeting or exceeding personal training sales goals as set by the facility manager.
- Deliver personalized training sessions that meet the client's goals and fitness level.
- Ensure clients use equipment correctly and perform exercises with proper form to prevent injury.
- Promote all facility programs and services, referring clients to additional offerings for a well-rounded experience.
- Stay informed on the facility's calendar of events, programs, and promotions.
- Keep current with industry trends, training techniques, and health and wellness best practices.
- Participate in facility events, member engagement activities, and staff meetings as directed.
- Provide outstanding customer service and solicit guest feedback via comment cards and other tools.
- Enforce access policies to ensure a safe, secure, and member-only environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification
- College degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field (preferred).
- Current certification from a nationally recognized agency (e.g., ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, NSPA).
- CPR, First Aid, and other safety certifications as required by the client.
Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated ability to educate and motivate clients across all fitness levels.
- Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates.
- Excellent customer service skills and a strong work ethic.
- Well-organized, efficient, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Professional appearance, demeanor, and discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational personality.
- Team-oriented mindset and willingness to contribute to the success of the team.
- Must be adaptable to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequent walking, jogging, and dynamic movement.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and lift.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Use of hands and arms for equipment handling and training demonstrations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
- Exposure to typical fitness environment conditions (noise, smells, varying temperatures).
