Job Summary:
The Group Fitness Manager is responsible for leading group fitness operations ensure excellent service delivery, member engagement, and achievement of business goals. The Group Fitness Manager Position is salary based with the ability to receive compensation for teaching Group Fitness Classes and Personal Training. This position is located at the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community center in Whitefish Bay, WI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of group fitness instructors, providing leadership, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor action plans to achieve fitness department objectives.
- Track and achieve monthly group fitness revenue targets.
- Instructor group exercise classes as needed and deliver personal training sessions to clients.
- Ensure staff deliver exceptional service while maintaining professional and technical standards in all areas of fitness.
- Drive member retention, referrals, and engagement through high-quality programming and relationship building.
- Maintain clear communication with all team members regarding expectations, schedules, and performance.
- Coordinate with management and marketing teams to support promotions and special events.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized fitness environment at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Fitness Director or General Manager.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
- Current Personal Training Certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA).
Minimum 3- -5 years of experience in a personal training, group fitness, or fitness management role. - Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage day-to-day operations.
- Strong project and time management skills with a focus on results and member experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning scheduling and member management systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and demonstrate physical exercises.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Regular use of hands and fingers to operate equipment.
- Exposure to varied indoor and outdoor environments, including temperature fluctuations and equipment-related odors/noise.
