Technical Writer

Responsibilities

Arcfield is looking for an aspiring, enthusiastic Technical Writer to support a dynamic team providing systems engineering and software development support for critical submarine systems for the U.S. Navy. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the writing, rewriting, and editing of documents in response to upcoming deliverables and customer reviews.
• Edit draft content by reviewing for completeness, accuracy, clarity, brevity, correct language use, compliance, consistency, flow, tone, organization, and alignment with specified style guide(s).
• Manage all documentation versions including centralization, configuration management, and master document lists.
• Provide media content management within Confluence, SharePoint, and other team-related sites.
• Support model-based document auto-generation setup and content maintenance.
• Collection and preparation of Weekly and Monthly Status Reports.
• Support technical meetings and various reviews through preparation of meeting materials, recording/distribution of meeting minutes and action items.
• Coordination and scheduling of all formal contract documentation deliverables.
• Collaborate with technical leads and subject matter experts to formulate long-term improvement plans and update technical content.
• Assist with documenting, maintaining, and using internal documentation processes.
• Contribute to and benefit from maintaining a collaborative environment - expanding skills and mentoring others.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

• HS 3-4
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience writing, updating, and maintaining technical systems documentation for a team
• Demonstrate exceptional technical writing skills, with the ability to draft, edit, and refine reports, summaries, presentations, and other technical documentation
• Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
• Experience with Confluence and/or similar Wiki tools
• Ability to quickly learn new software, tools, and technical concepts
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance within one year of employment

 

Additional Skills of Interest:

• Familiarity integrating graphics into documents
• Demonstrated experience and willingness to be a technical writer and editor when producing content
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, including using document collaboration and content management / authoring tools
• Experience providing technical writing, particularly submarine-related systems, for Federal Government, specifically U.S. Navy
• Understanding of Government contracts, CDRLs, and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)
• Experience with process improvement methods, practices, and procedures
• Experience in an Agile-driven, Scrum team-centric development environment

 

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
