Roles & Responsibilities
Assembly/Fabrication (90%)
- Perform precision, spaceflight critical, assembly and test on spaceflight, ground based, and optical components.
- Read work orders, follow production drawing and sample assemblies or receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, weld, solder, cement, press fit, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
- Mount assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on chassis panel.
- Connect component lead wires to printed circuits or route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
- Install finished assemblies or sub-assemblies in cases and enclosures.
- Assemble and attach hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches to assemblies.
- Perform assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating and color-coding parts and assemblies.
- Tend machines that press, mark, drill or wind component parts.
- Adjust or trim materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
- Devise, fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for product.
- Knowledgeable in MCAD or ECAD software to design and create assembly, part or cable drawings of products.
- Development of assembly and test processes, procedures and systems.
- Adhere and Enforce Lab Practices and Safety Protocols.
Required:
- BS 0-2
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time, ability to lift 50lbs
- 2 to 5 years of experience
- NASA 8739 workmanship standards or equivalent IPC/WHMA standards
