Mobile Equipment Mechanic

ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) in Shelby, Ohio produces welded and seamless precision tubes in a wide spectrum of carbon and alloy grades and offers one of the most extensive size ranges in the world. Our tubular products serve a variety of markets including automotive, industrial and construction equipment, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment and mineral mining equipment.The position requires the flexibility to work any shift, overtime as needed, plus a 7-day work week when production demands.

Your role:

The ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) Mobile Equipment Mechanic will report to the Maintenance Supervisors. This role will insepect, test, adjust, dismantle, and replace unit assemblies or parts, and make complete repairs to powered equipment. To assist other crafts on any and all work they have the skill and ability to perform.

Main tasks:

• Receive work assignments from Supervisor and perform work with minimal amount of supervision.
• Inspects, adjusts, and repairs gasoline or diesel-powered equipment used throughout the plant.
• Follows and interprets specifications on complex equipment diagrams, parts drawings, and catalogs. Advises supervisor of unusual or abnormal repair problems.
• Repairs and rebuilds engines; grinds and seats valves; replaces rings, pistons, bearings, connecting rods, transmission and differential gears, clutches, etc. Adjusts and services carburetors, generators, starters, ignition and fuel systems, lights, and auxiliary equipment.
• Repairs, adjusts, and services cooling, brake, exhaust, steering, suspension, and lubrication systems. Replaces hydraulic hoses. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds bodies by welding, brazing, refinishing, and painting.
• Uses precision testing equipment as provided to determine causes of trouble and check performance. Test operates equipment as necessary.
• Maintains records of work performed and materials used.
• Keeps work area in an orderly condition and observes safety regulations.

Other important details for Mobile Equipment Mechanic:

• Candidate must possess the physical ability to frequently lift, climb stairs, stand, walk, crouch, squat, bend, kneel and move throughout the plant as needed.
• Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklift, scissor and articulating lifts.
• Participate actively in the training of other maintenance personnel.
• Observe all safety regulations.
• Ability to work any shift and a 7 days per week schedule.
