We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Audit Associate to join our Payroll Compliance Department. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a background in accounting or finance who are looking to build hands-on auditing experience in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
As an Audit Associate, you will work closely with our Manager, Senior Accountant, and staff accountants to conduct compliance audits for employee benefit plans, labor unions, and contributing employers. This position offers exposure to a wide variety of clients, meaningful responsibility, and opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform agreed-upon procedure engagements (compliance audits) for employee benefit plans and union clients
- Prepare and maintain accurate supporting workpapers and draft clear, concise engagement reports
- Review, verify, and analyze payroll and financial records to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Travel to client offices throughout Western New York and other locations across New York State to conduct onsite audits
- Most audits are completed in one day; travel may range from one to four days
- Assist with payroll audit administrative tasks as needed
- Analyze datasets and create reports and visual summaries to communicate findings
- Clean, filter, and organize data to support audit conclusions
- Collaborate effectively with team members and actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with Word and Outlook is a plus
- Comfortable working in a paperless, technology-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, client-focused demeanor when working with organizations and stakeholders

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
