Position Summary: The experienced Chemical Process Engineer will serve as a resource for the plant, provide both technical and operational expertise to develop processes to transform raw materials into high-quality product while controlling risk associated with chemical manufacturing plant improvements. - Provide direct engineering support to plant operations to ensure objectives for the 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant are consistently and successfully met.
- Champion process optimization, troubleshoot and resolve complex operational and process issues.
- Work closely with Operations Manager and all levels of employees onsite to deliver innovative, safe, and reliable performance solutions and production process improvements.
- Translate guidelines and standards into practice, troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues, and recommend cost-effective solutions to elevate the business.
- Design and modify process flow diagrams (PFD), process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) drawings.
- Perform process modeling, hydraulic calculations, and simulations.
- Develop instrument data and specification sheets, complete documentation for the work performed onsite in the plant.
- Facilitate client hazard and operability reviews, hazard analysis review process, and lead cross functional project team efforts to mitigate risk.
- Identify and evaluate start up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating liability, reduce manufacturing costs and energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve both product yields and product quality.
- Support annual turnaround event and all major maintenance activities performed onsite.
- Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find a solution for or deal proactively with work related problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
- Fundamental knowledge of chemical manufacturing equipment and components used for 24/7 manufacturing facility.
- Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with contractors and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
- Ability to work well independently as well as a team environment to exceed strategic goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines required.
- Thorough understanding of how to operate and troubleshoot a distributed control system (DCS), Honeywell system highly preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment drawings, safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines.
- Must have a strong understanding of properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment used onsite at a chemical manufacturing plant.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related discipline.
- Five years or more years of experience in process engineering in a chemical manufacturing plant environment in a chemical or petrochemical related industry.
- Strong leadership skills required to educate operations team and oversee project work with a thorough understanding of basic engineering principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in process engineering and process technology principles.
- Previous experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities preferred.
