Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Solid Waste Engineer with specialized Solid Waste Management Consulting Engineering experience to join our Resilience Team in either Tampa or Boca Raton, Florida. We offer a flexible hybrid work culture with balance between remote and in-office work.
The candidate in this role will provide technical expertise to our team of highly skilled engineers, while supporting tasks/projects simultaneously and applying technical knowledge in the development of sustainable and resilient solutions to challenges faced by the solid waste industry.
Role accountabilities:
The Solid Waste Engineer will utilize their specialized expertise and knowledge of solid waste management systems to support program planning, capital project delivery, operations and maintenance, of related collection, transfer, processing and disposal of solid waste materials via a range of technologies. Some travel may be required to conduct project site visits, client meetings, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide technical support on projects as needed, including but not limited to, planning, data analysis, design support, regulations review, and permitting support for solid waste management facilities, with an emphasis on waste to energy facilities, as well as opportunities to support water/wastewater treatment projects.
- Assist Project Managers on active projects preparing and/or reviewing technical engineering drawings, specifications and cost estimates
- Planning and analysis for solid waste programs including, but not limited to, financial studies, procurement assistance, fleet routing, waste characterization, education and outreach, zero waste studies, and long-range strategic plans
- Supporting civil and environmental projects which may include earthwork, stormwater, water, wastewater, remediation, and restoration
- Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, asset inventory, condition assessments, technology evaluations, among others.
- Preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials, and participate in client meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.
- 4 years of solid waste management consulting and/or engineering experience.
- Master’s degree in related engineering discipline
- Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations is a plus.
- EIT or PE License preferred.
