Role Description:
Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Electrical Resident Engineer to support one of the most iconic and consequential infrastructure initiatives in the United States — the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). In this role you will be assisting senior engineering staff and project managers in the oversight, coordination, and technical review of electrical engineering activities. The position may require travel to field sites and participation in night/weekend work as needed.
We are working in partnership with Parsons and Mace as part of the MPA Delivery Partner team, selected by the Gateway Development Commission to deliver this transformative project. The HTP is a critical component of the broader Gateway Program — one of the most ambitious and impactful transportation initiatives in the nation — and is designed to strengthen mobility, enhance resiliency, and ensure the long-term reliability of the Northeast Corridor.
The project encompasses the construction of a new, two-track rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River, along with the full rehabilitation of the existing 113-year-old North River Tunnel. This vital infrastructure supports more than 200,000 daily passengers via Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT and serves as a backbone for economic activity and connectivity between New York and New Jersey.

Role Accountabilities:
Field Engineering & Site Supervision
- Assist in the oversight and management of electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Support implementation of the Construction Management Plan and participate in site inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Monitor contractor work for quality, safety, and adherence to schedule.
- Review electrical design documents, drawings, and specifications prepared by contractors and engineers.
- Provide input on constructability, feasibility, and compliance with project standards.
- Support the resolution of technical issues, RFIs, and submittals related to electrical systems.
- Assist with project controls, including schedule management, cost estimating, and risk management for electrical work.
- Support document control processes, ensuring accurate tracking and storage of electrical engineering records.
- Contribute to daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting on project status, progress, and compliance.
- Support implementation of quality assurance and quality control plans for electrical systems.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and testing to verify contractor compliance.
- Assist with environmental compliance, including hazardous materials management and adherence to permits.
- Attend project meetings and interface coordination sessions with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and briefings for project leadership and external agencies.
- Support community engagement and outreach activities as required.
- Assist with procurement support for electrical equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Support asset maintenance planning and provide input on long-term reliability and safety of electrical infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in transportation or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with construction management, design review, and field engineering practices.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
