Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and dental records to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to foster long-term health habits.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to streamline workflow and enhance patient comfort.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments, medical records, and clinical notes in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office environment.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding standards.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental care.
