What you will do:
Support individuals with developmental disabilities in reaching their goals by providing individualized therapy
- Provide counseling services to teens and adults identified with developmental disabilities and/or their families
- Receive referrals for appropriate therapeutic care, such as for grief counseling, anxiety, impulse control support needs and relationship counseling.
- Make referrals to other providers for individuals at risk for violent or suicidal behaviors.
- Provide service to develop plans to correct or adjust personal, social or emotional maladjustments related to educational, developmental or social progress.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that represent evidence-based, insight-oriented, behavior modifying, supporting and/or interactive therapeutic counseling.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that are planned, structured and provided using evidence-based therapeutic methods most appropriate to the needs of the individual and/or family member(s) according to current professional, ethical, and legal standards of mental health practice.
- Report and discuss individual’s progress as appropriate with family and/or primary caregiver
- Keep accurate session records; prepare reports in accordance with policies of St. Louis Arc, including assessment/evaluation, incident reports, monthly progress reports and data collection
- Collaborate with other departments within the St. Louis Arc, such as Residential, Transition/Next, Navigation, and Behavior, in order to identify appropriate referrals and provide consistent, high quality supports across services.
- Develop strong networks in the community through outreach, presentations, and practicum supervision to expand counseling services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families

What we expect of you:

- Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor
- Three or more years of experience working with teens and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Experience in a therapeutic setting

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges, develop creative solutions, and address concerns independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, advocate for individuals, and collaborate effectively with families, stakeholders, and care teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment planning and the ability to track progress toward measurable goals and objectives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and across diverse settings.
