About the position: As a Job Developer, you are a compassionate and proactive professional dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to reach their employment goals. Your passion for fostering independence and promoting community integration motivates you to create valuable job opportunities. With strong communication skills, you excel at building positive relationships with both clients and local businesses. This position requires travel between Chico, Oroville, and Paradise to support client and program needs.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop Employment Opportunities: Build and maintain relationships with local employers to identify inclusive employment opportunities that align with clients’ skills, interests, and career goals.
  • Client-Centered Employment Support: Partner with clients to understand their strengths, interests, and employment goals. Provide guidance throughout the job search process and support successful community and workplace integration.
  • Job Readiness Coaching: Assist clients with developing resumes, preparing for interviews, understanding workplace expectations, and building professional skills needed for employment success.
  • Employment Coaching & Workplace Support: Provide ongoing coaching and encouragement to help clients develop workplace skills, navigate challenges, and increase independence in their employment journey.
  • Community-Based Support & Travel: Travel regularly between employer locations, job sites, client meetings, and public community spaces to provide employment support and coaching. Mileage reimbursement for approved work-related travel will be handled in accordance with company policy.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete accurate and timely service documentation, progress notes, and required reports to support client goals and program requirements.
  • Program & Community Engagement: Participate in workshops, employer outreach, curriculum development, client training, and other program initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Tech-Savvy & Organized : Comfort using technology including email, Google Calendar, and learning various applications such as Slack, Asana, or similar platforms. Ability to manage schedules, track tasks, and complete documentation.
  • Professionalism & Coaching Mindset : Ability to model workplace professionalism and support clients in developing workplace readiness skills.
  • Adaptability : Comfort working in a flexible, client-driven environment where schedules and priorities may shift.
  • Experience (Preferred) : Background in job development, recruiting, employment services, education, social services, or related fields preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is helpful but not required.
  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree in Social Services, Business, or related field preferred.

Schedule: Flexible/Variable | Staff have the flexibility to create the majority of their own schedule and determine their working hours based on the needs of the individuals they support, though they are required to attend mandatory meetings scheduled at set times. Outside of those commitments, weekend work is optional, and staff may choose to work weekends if it best suits their personal schedule or client needs.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a post-offer pre-employment background check, non-arduous physical, drug/TB screen, and driving record check
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, including no DUI convictions within the past five (5) years and no more than two (2) points on the driving record
  • Ability to work in various environments, including office and community settings
  • Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, walking, or assisting individuals with mobility needs, if applicable
  • Work environment may include exposure to pet allergens. The Arc maintains a pet-friendly culture, and animals (such as the office cat) may occasionally be present in the workplace. Employees may also encounter pet allergens through donated items or community environments.
