Nurse Educator

Summary: The Nurse Educator is responsible for the coordination and training of Agency staff in the Residential and Day Habilitation departments in relation to medical administration and medical treatment, Agency Clinical Procedures and nursing department protocols.

Essential Functions:

• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Provide, assist, create and maintain clinical education at Arc GLOW
• Provides the staff with the education to effectively perform their job duties in the areas of medication administration, care of the people we support, and information on when and how to contract the nursing department when in need of assistance.
• Will orient the Residential and Day Habilitation staff to the clinical policies and procedures regarding medication administration, documentation and recognizing abnormal signs and symptoms in the people we support.
• Works with the Director of Training and Staff Development in the planning and implementation of initial new staff training and continued education.
• Responsible for the placement and reading of PPDs upon hiring and submitting those results to Human Resources. Also responsible for the monitoring of supplies associated with PPDs.
• Works with the Director of Clinical Services to ensure that all training materials are in compliance with internal policies and procedures and external regulations.
• May be required to provide training outside of Orientation schedule and at on sites based on needs of programs and training material. Provides staff training through oral presentations and demonstrations in small and large groups. May also assist in developing online classes or new clinical classes.
• Responsible for inputting and tracking of education classes offered at Arc GLOW.
• Participate in quality assurance and compliance activities as required.
• Support the mission of Arc GLOW by ensuring operational excellence and compliance that enables our team to provide high-quality, individualized supports.
• With the approval of Director of Training, will assist with nursing duties as needed.

Non-Essential Functions:

• Participate in agency committees and at events, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Must possess the ability to effectively teach and motivate learners to engage and excel.
• Able to provide adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies.
• Effective facilitation and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of Arc’s population and services
• Knowledge of all standards and regulations governing health related services
• Must demonstrate exceptional skills in stand – up delivery, facilitation and course design that achieve key learning objectives and inspire learners to apply concepts beyond the classroom.
• Must be able to create/adapt customized training/learning programs.
• Demonstrate time and project management experience required.
• Skilled at multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
• Very good working knowledge of basic computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Physical Requirements: Will be required to stand or site for majority of the day. Must have the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and be able to get on the floor if needed.

Minimum Qualifications: RN plus two years’ experience in the Human Services field. One year of experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred. Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred. Prior training/teaching experience in a related field a plus.

Working Conditions: Travel is required to all regions of Arc GLOW.
