Position Summary
The Applications Engineer serves as the technical liaison between our customers, outside sales representatives, drafting, purchasing, and operations. This role is responsible for understanding customer applications, determining the appropriate equipment solution, developing technical scopes of supply, and preparing complete quotation packages for estimating and purchasing.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of oil and gas production equipment, fabrication, and process applications, and enjoys helping customers find the right solution.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers and outside sales representatives throughout the United States and South America to understand application requirements and recommend the best technical solution.
- Evaluate customer specifications, process data, drawings, and operating conditions to determine equipment requirements.
- Size and select separators, dehydration packages, filter coalescers, and other production and process equipment. (Our engineering team is available to assist with complex applications.)
- Develop technical scopes of supply, equipment descriptions, and bills of material for estimating and purchasing.
- Prepare RFQ packages that enable Purchasing to obtain accurate vendor pricing.
- Utilize existing engineering backups, historical quotations, and previous designs whenever applicable to improve efficiency and maintain consistency.
- Identify opportunities to utilize reconditioned equipment when appropriate and work closely with the Used Equipment Team to determine available inventory and sourcing options.
- Collaborate with outside sales, estimating, drafting, purchasing, engineering, and operations to ensure proposals are technically accurate and delivered on schedule.
- Participate in sales meetings to assist Account Managers in determining the best technical and commercial solution for each opportunity.
- Generate quotations and proposals using the company's CRM platform (QuickBase).
- Maintain a thorough understanding of ARC Energy's product offerings, fabrication capabilities, and available inventory.
- Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle and assist with customer questions before and after quotations are submitted.
- Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned, consistent with business needs and applicable law.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in applications engineering, technical inside sales, estimating, or project engineering within the oil & gas, process equipment, or fabrication industry.
- Demonstrated experience sizing production and process equipment.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, pressure vessels, production equipment, and process systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, customer specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Mechanical aptitude with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
