What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Electromechanical Maintenance Electrician position at ARC Colorado, Inc.?
We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electromechanical Maintenance Electrician to join our operations team. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex automated manufacturing machinery and electro-mechanical systems combining electrical circuitry with mechanical components. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in 3-phase high voltage distribution and standard mechanical systems, along with a strong preference for familiarity with PLC diagnostics and programming (i.e., Allen-Bradley). Your goal is to maximize equipment uptime, maintain smooth production operations, and execute strict preventive maintenance routines.
Core Responsibilities
Electrical & Controls Maintenance
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical control circuits, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), AC/DC motors, and 3-phase systems up to 480V.
- Diagnose PLC and HMI anomalies using ladder logic, such as specific focus on Allen-Bradley platforms (such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and RSLogix/Studio 5000 software).
- Modify or perform minor programming updates to automated sequences to optimize machinery performance.
- Interpret and update complex electrical blueprints, wiring schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Run conduit, pull wire, size transformers, and replace breakers or switches following the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Mechanical & Systems Maintenance
- Maintain and repair mechanical assemblies, including pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyor, and gear drive components.
- Perform root-cause diagnostics on malfunctioning automated lines by testing the intersection of mechanical motion and sensor logic.
- Utilize precision testing tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calipers to measure component wear and calibration accuracy.
- Execute general facility repairs, welding fabrication, and equipment rigging as needed.
Compliance & Preventive Safety
- Adhere strictly to standard industrial safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E guidelines, and OSHA rules.
- Operate aerial platforms, scissor lifts, and forklifts safely at varying heights.
- Log routine checks, spare parts utilization, and break-fix actions accurately within the company's Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Automation is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as an industrial maintenance electrician or electromechanical technician within a manufacturing environment.
- Active Journeyman Electrician License or an accredited Industrial Maintenance Electrical Certification is a major plus.
Technical Competencies
- PLC Programming Preference: Proven experience navigating PLC hardware and software environments. Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot ladder logic to isolate physical hardware failures vs. software bugs.
- Strong foundational understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and industrial electrical distribution.
- Proficiency in diagnosing fluid power systems (hydraulics and pneumatics) alongside mechanical wear items.
- Computer literacy to effectively utilize industrial diagnosis software and CMMS tracking tools.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in awkward or elevated positions (up to 30 feet or higher using lifts).
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and spending long periods standing, bending, or walking across a busy plant floor
