Job Title: Selector/Packer
Shift: Rotating shift – various crews (8 hour ROTATION shift)
Department: Cold End
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Selector Packer is responsible to inspect and pack glassware based on standards and samples provided. Also responsible for preparing packaging, applying labels, palletizing, and serving as Light Station attendant, wearing required PPE at all times, and following established safety protocols.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Selects and packs items by reviewing quality samples and following established written and verbal quality instructions.
- Identifies and removes rejects not removed by the selector or the light station selector. Closes packaging manually or with dedicated machines. Fits some items with accessories (caps, etc). Palletizes in compliance with the packaging specifications. Attaches tags on completed pallets.
- Reports non conformities to appropriate supervision.
- Keeps work area clean, follows all standards of 5S.
- Enters data into the computer.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to lift 40 lbs.
- Able to carry 20 lbs
- 90% of the day standing
- Able to handle glassware efficiently
- Able to work in a very warm or cold environment
