Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant
Arbutus Park Retirement Community is hiring for an experienced, dependable Housekeeper/Laundry Aide.
Work Environment: This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. Rotating shifts as well as holidays and work during inclement weather will be required. While performing the duties of this job, the housekeeping aide is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the housekeeping aide is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Equipment/Machines: This role routinely uses general cleaning equipment such as washing machines, dryers, iron, vacuums, mops and wringers, various cleansers and germicides, and telephones on occasion.
Education/Experience: A high school diploma or GED required. No experience is required.
Skill(s): Basic reading and writing skills; teamwork orientation; resident focus; working knowledge of electrical and manual equipment related to housekeeping; working knowledge of laundry machines and dryers; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; basic knowledge of germicidal properties of cleaning materials and reasons for their use; Organizational Skills; Thoroughness; and Time Management.
General Responsibilities: Responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping duties in order to maintain assigned area(s) in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition; performing laundry duties in accordance with established procedures to ensure proper infection and disease control; implementing specific procedures and programs; coordinating work within the unit or department, as well as with other departments and units; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.
