Job Description:

The Groundsperson role is ideal for individuals ready to take the first step in a rewarding career in tree care and vegetation management. This entry-level position focuses on supporting our skilled crew members while ensuring safety and efficiency at every job site. You will perform essential labor tasks, assist with equipment operation, and participate in hands-on training to build the skills needed for advancement.

Groundspersons work closely with experienced climbers, bucket operators, and forepersons, gaining valuable exposure to the field. Candidates must be ready to work outdoors, perform physically demanding tasks, and demonstrate a commitment to safety and learning. Regular travel is required for this role, with assignments involving 80-90% travel to job sites. A valid driver’s license is required to support transportation and equipment needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general labor tasks, including site preparation, debris cleanup, and post-work inspections.
• Assist climbers and bucket operators from the ground, providing critical support and ensuring safety.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, and other tree maintenance equipment.
• Conduct routine vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Learn and practice rigging, rope setting, and knot-tying as part of ongoing training.
• Communicate professionally with customers to represent ArborWorks positively.
• Participate in the Line Clearance Qualification Program (LCQP) booklet to track and demonstrate progress.

Qualifications:

• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Training Requirements:
  • Completed and signed Groundsperson training.
  • Completed annual Aerial Rescue training.
  • LCCP test completed.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire).
• Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license (required).

Work Environment:

• Outdoor duties in various weather conditions and on uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding field environment.
• Travel to job sites is required 80-90% of the time, including travel to remote locations as needed.
