Shodair Children’s Hospital seeks a Genetic Counselor to provide counseling, risk assessment, and education for patients across Montana. Key Responsibilities
- Provide genetic counseling in clinic and outreach settings.
- Collect and interpret medical, family, and psychosocial histories.
- Coordinate and interpret genetic testing.
- Educate patients on risks, recurrence, and testing options.
- Document all care in the EMR and produce counseling reports.
- Deliver genetics education and develop patient materials.
- Connect families with appropriate resources.
- Participate in research and uphold all ethical and regulatory standards.
- Warm, professional, and patient-centered.
- Strong communicator and team collaborator.
- Skilled in psychosocial assessment and genetic risk interpretation.
- Organized, adaptable, and comfortable with regular statewide travel.
- Committed to ethical practice and patient autonomy.

Requirements
Required Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).
- Active Genetic Counselor license in Montana and any additional states as required.
Salary : $74,200
