AM Caregiver – Assisted Living Facility (ALF)
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and hardworking AM Caregiver to join our team. This role provides direct care and support to our residents in a professional, respectful, and person-centered manner. Typical AM shift hours are 7:00am–3:00pm. Responsibilities
Resident Care & ADLs
- Assist residents with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, eating, and mobility.
- Provide safe assistance with transfers, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.
- Monitor and report changes in condition, behavior, or cognitive status.
Medication Assistance
- Administer or assist with medications per Minnesota ALF training and facility policy.
- Accurately document medication administration in the EMAR.
- Report medication errors or concerns immediately.
Health & Safety
- Follow infection control procedures, including PPE and hand hygiene.
- Respond promptly to call lights, alarms, and emergency situations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
Housekeeping & Supportive Tasks
- Complete light housekeeping related to resident care: tidying rooms, laundry, changing linens, etc.
- Assist with meal service, food delivery, and clean-up as needed.
- Support residents with activities, exercises, or social engagement.
Communication & Documentation
- Document care tasks accurately and timely.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, leadership, and coworkers regarding resident needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and MN ALF privacy requirements.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Participate in shift reporting and team communication.
- Maintain a professional, positive, and supportive presence.
- Attend trainings, in-services, and meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements
- Must receive a “not disqualified” result from the MN Department of Human Services Background Study
- Must provide valid identification verifying eligibility to work in the United States.
- Must complete TB screening per state requirements.
- Must be willing to submit to drug testing if required by facility policy.
- Must notify employer if you are ever placed on an exclusion list.
- Must complete required Assisted Living training (orientation, vulnerable adult training, medication administration training if applicable).
Physical Demands
- Ability to move throughout the workday, including long periods of walking or standing.
- Adequate vision and hearing to provide safe resident care.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and assist with transferring residents.
- Ability to lift up to 35–50 lbs with proper technique (aligned with caregiver job expectations).
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress associated with caregiving.
- Must be able to work assigned shifts, including weekends or holidays as scheduled.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous caregiver, PCA, CNA, or home health experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Strong communication, compassion, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions, provide quality care, and maintain professionalism.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
