Company Description
Arbor Farms Nursery is a family-owned and operated garden center located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The nursery was established in 2000 on land that was once a working farm. A renovated century-old red barn proudly remains our focal point for the 22 acre garden center. Over the years we have added many components to the garden center including a glass greenhouse in 2024. Arbor Farms sells landscaping and garden center products to a wide variety of both retail and wholesale customers. We also provide landscape design services and plant suggestions to our large customer base.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role to support our current landscape designer and the large volume of landscape design customers. As one of our Landscape Designers, you will be responsible for creating quality designs for a variety of customers both residential and commercial. The designs will include the wide selection of plant material that we carry at our nursery in order to promote our products.
Daily tasks include:
• Taking phone calls for interest in landscape design services
• Setting up appointments to initially meet with customers
• Meeting with customers at their property to determine their needs, desires and details of the project
• Assessing soil, sunlight and other site conditions in order to provide practical solutions
• Measuring landscape sites
• Creating individualized landscape designs by hand sketching or on the PRO Landscape program
• Communicating with customers once the design is completed to answer any questions or follow up
• Meeting with customers at the nursery to assist with plant selection
• Coordinating with landscapers to ensure successful product installation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field preferred
- Proficiency in drafting skills via by hand or relevant software
- Knowledge of soil types, plant species and landscaping practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
- Attention to detail and high level of organization
- Strong communication and client interaction skills
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 3 years related experience
