Application Engineer (Electrical)

Position Description

This position provides technical support to our customers and assists our end users in resolving issues. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between customer needs and engineering capabilities, providing technical expertise and support throughout the sales and post-sales cycle.

Primary Objectives

This position is designed to ensure that our customers feel well covered by Arbin professionals and maintain a good relationship between our customers and us. This position also serves as a major source of customer feedback/system issues. Feedback shall be collected, discussed internally, and treated accordingly.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Conduct engineering test
  • Product repair
  • Answer phone calls/Emails from Customers
  • Analyze the customer’s issue and find solutions to fix it
  • Provide online training/troubleshooting service
  • Perform onsite service (Calibration, Troubleshoot, Repair)
  • Write engineering documents
  • Collect customer feedback and open issues, and relay these issues to the R&D team
  • Support the customer throughout the sales and post-sales process

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Conduct engineering Test
  • Reproduce reported issue/bug
  • Verify new feature/new fix
  • Evaluate system limitations/performance during different scenarios
  • Perform specific tests per customer’s needs.
  • Product repair
  • Troubleshoot product
  • Diagnose defective boards
  • Arbin product circuit analysis and performance improvement
  • Components soldering
  • Answer phone calls/Emails from Customers
  • Answer incoming phone calls/emails, summarize customers’ questions and feedback.
  • Analyze the customer’s issues and find solutions
  • Collect necessary files/data from the customer, analyze the root cause of any issue reported, and find a solution to fix it. Escalated to the engineering team as necessary.
  • Provide online training/troubleshooting service
  • Use phone call or remote access software to expedite the troubleshooting process and provide online, real-time training/instruction.
  • Perform onsite service (Calibration, Troubleshoot, Repair)
  • Perform on-site service, including but not limited to system setup, system calibration, troubleshooting, and customer training.
  • Write engineering documents
  • Internal documents include, but not limited to:
(1) Modules assembly/testing instruction
(2) Modules troubleshoot procedure
(3) Module/Product/Feature Introduction
(4) Engineering test report
  • External documents include, but are not limited to:
(1) Product white paper (technical introduction)
(2) Product General Introduction
(3) Product Specification sheet
  • Collect customer feedback, open issues, and relay them to the R&D team.
  • Collect feedback through phone calls, emails, and visits. Summarize and document it for further discussion.
  • Support the customer throughout the sales and post-sales process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic Electrical Engineering knowledge, including component/circuit analysis; Power system/Power Electronics is preferred
  • Understand analog circuit theory and digital circuit theory
  • Electronic components soldering (SMT, Through holes)
  • Able to use multimeters, oscilloscope, and other common equipment
  • Ability to read and write technical documents
  • Ability to travel 25% -50% when necessary
  • Good written and verbal communication, and able to talk in front of a camera
  • Good learning ability and attitude
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of computer networks is preferred
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience: BS or above in Electrical Engineering
  • Years of experience:0or above
  • Specialized training in: Electrical or electronics

Other Requirements

Able to take a coast-to-coast flight and/or able to drive independently
Authorized to work in the United States

Work Environment

Office/Lab/Facility/on-site combined

Salary & Benefits

$60,000 - $80,000
