Process Technician – Complex Products (2‑Shot / Bi‑Injection) 2nd Shift
Location: Rochester Hills, MI
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Process Engineer Team Leader, the Process Technician is responsible for setting up complex injection molding processes, including multi‑shot and bi‑injection molds. This role supports first‑time quality, reduces scrap and downtime, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements
Set up injection molding tools for production start‑up, including loading approved process programs
Connect and verify plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems per process documentation
Install, remove, set up, and calibrate robots and auxiliary equipment
Assist Process Engineers with process development and improvement activities
Identify and recommend opportunities to reduce cycle time, scrap, and downtime (SMED, CI, OpEx)
Complete work orders and documentation in SAP, MES, Raypro, and paper logs
Perform mold cleaning, including dry ice blasting, and apply mold cleaners and release agents
Maintain high housekeeping standards for machines, tooling, and work areas
Stop processes and troubleshoot when nonconforming material is identified
Coordinate with material handlers, technicians, and schedulers to meet production requirements
Maintain company‑issued tools and organize die‑setting stations
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Process Technician or Mold Setter in plastic injection molding
Hands‑on experience with hygroscopic and non‑hygroscopic resins
Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling, and part design
Experience using ERP and MES systems
Basic computer skills
Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with 2‑shot or bi‑injection molding
Experience with RJG eDART systems
Master Molder® I or II certification
Knowledge of 5S and SMED principles
Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and overhead cranes
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
Standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting on a cement floor
Ability to visually inspect parts with accuracy
