What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Youth Camps Instructor position at Arapahoe Community College?
The Workforce & Community Programs Department (WCP) at Arapahoe Community College has several openings for part-time Instructors to teach Summer Youth Camp courses to children in grades 3-8 during the Summer 2026 semester. Camp format is M-F for one week, 8:30am-12pm or 12:30pm-4pm. This is a seasonal position between June 1 and July 31. This posting is intended to create a pool of candidates and is expected to close on January 31st, 2025.

- Cyber Spies (June 1-5; 12:30-4pm)
- Day in Court – Mock Trial (Jun 8-12; 12:30-4pm)
- AI Designers and Developers (June 22-26; 12:30-4pm)
- Video Game Animation (July 6-10; 12:30-4pm)
- Roblox® Makers (July 13-17; 12:30-4pm)
- Young Investors & Entrepreneurs (July 20-24; 12:30-4pm)
- Minecraft® Modders (July 27-31; 12:30-4pm)
- Fashion Design for Self-Expression (July 27-31; 8:30am-12pm)
Duties of our Instructors include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare adequately by reviewing and or developing curricula for the courses to be taught.
- Familiarize oneself with the necessary software to educate and utilize in the classroom.
- Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers.
- Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom.
- Practice and promote positive interaction with and among campers.
- Support camper check-in and check-out processes.
- Provide excellent customer service to parents by communicating with them about their camper’s experience.
- Supervise and assist with daily setup and cleanup of camp.
- Assume responsibility for the care of materials
- Maintain professional status through communication with students, parents, program directors and supervisors
- 3-5 years of experience in content area being taught
- K-12 Teaching Certification
- K-12 Teaching Experience
- Completed Bachelor’s degree in education
