About the Role
Our client is seeking Biomedical Equipment Technicians II to join our Biomedical Services Team supporting healthcare facilities in the Miami-Dade and Fort Lauderdale, FL areas. This position is hands-on and focused on preventive and corrective maintenance of medical devices, supporting hospital staff with reliable equipment service.
The ideal candidate will have a technical degree or certification and practical experience in servicing electronic or biomedical equipment. Strong attention to detail, ability to follow established procedures, and excellent communication with clinical staff are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of biomedical and patient care equipment under established guidelines.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and complete corrective actions using standard tools and test equipment.
- Document all service activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CAMS) and maintain accurate service records.
- Support clinical staff by ensuring equipment is safe, functional, and available for use.
- Coordinate with vendors for service support when needed.
- Comply with all safety, electrical, infection control, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in on-the-job and manufacturer training to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge.
- Be available for on-call rotation and occasional travel to nearby hospital facilities.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree, technical diploma, or certification in Biomedical Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in servicing medical, biomedical, or electronic equipment (hospital or clinical environment preferred).
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and use of standard diagnostic tools.
- Experience or general knowledge of therapeutic equipment (infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, other), diagnostics equipment (e.g. endoscopes), patient monitoring systems (physiologic monitors, electrocardiographs, pulse oximeters, etc.), laboratory (centrifuges, incubators, analyzers, etc.), surgical (electrosurgical units, microscopes, etc.), sterilization (autoclaves, washers, etc.) and patient support equipment (patient beds, stretchers, lifts) is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic regulatory guidelines (e.g., JCAHO, NFPA, CMS) preferred.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with clinical staff and vendors.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between healthcare facilities.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Spanish will be helpful.
