Small Engine & Surface-Prep Equipment Service Mechanic Compensation
- Pay Range $23.00 - $25.00/hour
- Monthly Bonus Opportunity: Average of $500 per month in additional bonus compensation based on performance
Bonus compensation is not guaranteed and is based on applicable bonus plan requirements and billable hours.
- Diagnose and repair commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment
- Work on: 2, 3 & 4 cylinder gas engines; truck-mounted carpet cleaning units; portable carpet extractors; hard-surface floor machines; duct cleaning and deodorizing tools; dehumidifiers; air scrubbers; air movers; HEPA vacuums
- Apply testing equipment, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer repair manuals to ensure accurate fixes
- Identify additional service needs and communicate them clearly to customers and the service department
- Hit quality and productivity goals consistently
- Create service orders and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Schedule and manage appointments using scheduling software
- Interact with customers in person, by phone, and via email
- Build bids and present repair/service estimates
- Order parts, work with vendors, and coordinate workload with other technicians
- Use and maintain shop equipment and tools properly
- Collaborate with store employees to coordinate service work
- 2 years’ experience in one or more: commercial cleaning/restoration equipment; small engine repair/maintenance; pressure washer repair/maintenance; vehicle repair/maintenance
- Valid driver license; clean MVR with no DUIs or Careless/Reckless driving within 3 years
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Personal basic set of mechanic’s tools
- High mechanical aptitude, strong technical skills, and attention to detail
- Fast, accurate diagnostics and problem-solving
- Safety mindset—use of safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE
- Ability to stay focused and deliver quality work on schedule
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly
- Professional presence, solid written and verbal communication, and basic computer skills
- Willingness to work occasional overtime
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a bonus
- Be coachable and take direction from supervisors
- Pitch in to assist fellow technicians and store staff as needed
- Stay organized, keep the shop safe, and help balance the team’s workload
