To lead, optimize, and transform the full freight operations function across both air and sea logistics, ensuring efficient cargo movement, regulatory compliance, and high service standards. This role drives operational strategy, vendor governance, digital transformation, and continuous improvement across all freight activities while aligning operational capabilities with broader supply chain and commercial objectives.
Job Description- Oversee end-to-end air and sea freight operations including import, export, transshipment, FCL, LCL, breakbulk, reefer, and express cargo.
- Ensure efficient cargo flow, accurate documentation, and timely coordination with carriers, terminals, ground handlers, and customs authorities.
- Supervise vessel scheduling, flight bookings, container tracking, and cargo throughput using digital platforms and analytics tools.
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with commercial growth and supply chain objectives.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives including automation, e-documentation, and process reengineering.
- Oversee capacity planning, carrier allocation, and trade lane optimization.
- Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and SOPs to drive operational excellence.
- Manage vendor relationships with airlines, shipping lines, NVOCCs, port authorities, ground handlers, and customs brokers.
- Ensure compliance with IATA, ICAO, IMO, Incoterms, customs regulations, and internal audit standards.
- Maintain readiness for certifications such as AEO, ISO, IMDG, and DGR.
- Lead risk mitigation planning for disruptions such as geopolitical events, port congestion, or regulatory changes.
- Resolve escalated issues including port delays, cargo damage, customs holds, and documentation discrepancies.
- Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to optimize freight spend and manage P&L accountability.
- Champion sustainability initiatives such as green routing, low-sulfur fuel usage, and carbon offsetting.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of freight operations staff.
- Drive talent development through succession planning, leadership coaching, and performance management.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture across cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Aviation, Maritime Studies, or related field.
- - 8–12 years of experience in freight operations with exposure to both air and sea logistics.
- - Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- - Proficiency in CargoWise, INTTRA, CargoSmart, and airline/shipping line portals.
- - Familiarity with customs portals, digital cargo tracking tools, and terminal/ground handling systems.
- - Certifications such as FIATA Diploma, IATA DGR, IMDG Code, PMP (preferred).
- - Strong understanding of IATA, ICAO, IMO, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
