Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sales Associate/Cataloger of American Furniture at our New York, NY location. The individual in this role will be responsible for retail sales, providing excellent customer service, and developing product knowledge to educate clients on the gallery’s collections. Key tasks also include cataloging inventory, maintaining detailed product descriptions, and managing inquiries. Regular collaboration with clients and gallery team members is essential to succeeding in this role. The Sales Associate / Cataloger role would oversee the development of a furniture gallery in the Upper East Side which will operate concurrently to our fine arts & books sales and auctions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- General gallery support, act as an initial point of contact in person and on the phone.
- Prepare materials and documents for sales offers, checklists, viewings and auctions.
- Sales strategy and research working in close contact with owner, directors & senior sales associates.
- Perform research on artists, institutions, and individuals.
- Represent the gallery in a professional manner on the phone, in person, and via email.
- Help maintain overall appearance of gallery space
Qualifications
- B.A./B.F.A and prior gallery experience essential
- Knowledge of 18th & 19th century American Furniture - (familiarity with European is a plus).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and G Suite.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented approach to all tasks.
- Excellent command of written English and great communication skills.
- Ability to work gracefully under pressure and follow through with minimal supervision.
