We are seeking a Foreman for our Asphalt Crew to oversee and manage day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in asphalt paving, be highly organized, and have a strong ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced construction environment. You should be someone who can maintain quality standards, enforce safety regulations, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and manage an asphalt crew, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of paving projects.
- Plan and assign daily work tasks, ensuring that crew members have the proper equipment and materials.
- Oversee the quality of work, ensuring projects meet or exceed quality standards and specifications.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and other project meetings to discuss project progress and potential issues.
- Ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed by the crew.
- Identify and address potential construction hazards and risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in the project.
- Provide hands-on leadership in the field, assisting with the operation of equipment as needed.
- Communicate regularly with project managers to report on project progress.
- Troubleshoot issues in the field and make decisions to resolve problems promptly.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, motivating the crew to maintain high levels of performance.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Asphalt Foreman or in a similar leadership role within the construction or paving industry.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Leadership and communication skills to manage, train, and motivate a team.
- Ability to make quick decisions and solve problems effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Review and approve construction plans, blueprints, and drawings.
- A commitment to safety and quality with a proven track record of adhering to safety guidelines.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet project deadlines when necessary.
- Responsible for clocking in and out all crew members at the start and end of each shift.
- Communicate with HR or Payroll to submit accurate time logs and resolve any discrepancies.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specialized equipment (e.g., pavers, rollers, skid Steers etc.).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR).
- Experience working on large-scale projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
