This role involves delivering exceptional, personalized music education to students of all ages and abilities, including those with special needs. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Instruction may take place in students' homes (throughout California), online, at our Los Angeles studio (for Los Angeles area instructors), or at designated community locations. This position requires strict adherence to company policies, professionalism, and the maintenance of confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tailored Music Instruction: Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate music lessons to students of varying ages, skill levels, and abilities, including those with special needs, across multiple settings—in-home, online, at our studio, and at community locations.
  • Adaptive Teaching Methods: Utilize flexible and innovative strategies to meet the unique needs of each student, employing adaptive techniques to ensure an inclusive and effective learning experience.
  • Diverse Musical Activities: Design and implement lessons that incorporate singing, rhythm exercises, movement, and instrument play to inspire curiosity, creativity, and musical development.
  • Build Positive Relationships: Establish and maintain strong, professional relationships with students and their families, contributing to a collaborative and welcoming educational environment.
  • Monitor and Communicate Progress: Conduct regular assessments of student progress, providing detailed, constructive feedback to parents or guardians along with personalized recommendations for continued growth.
  • Maintain Professional Standards: Adhere to all organizational guidelines, including safety protocols, company policies, confidentiality requirements, and standards of professional conduct.
  • Travel and Scheduling: Effectively manage a flexible schedule, demonstrating reliability and punctuality when traveling to in-home or community locations and maintaining professionalism in all settings.

  • Timekeeping and Administrative Responsibilities:

Online instructors are responsible for accurately tracking their working hours, ensuring transparency in scheduling and payroll processing. This includes:

    • Attendance Tracking: Take accurate attendance for each online session and document all completed lessons.
    • Time Management: Clock in and out of designated tasks using the company’s scheduling system.
    • Accurate Time Recording: Maintain precise records of teaching and administrative time, ensuring compliance with company policies.
    • Timely Submission: Turn in completed timesheets and any required documentation by established deadlines.
    • Clear Communication: Notify administrative staff promptly of any schedule changes, cancellations, or technical issues affecting lessons.
    • Incident Documentation: Maintain thorough records of any incidents or technical disruptions affecting student engagement or lesson delivery.

    Requirements:

    • Strong musical background, with proficiency in singing, basic piano or guitar, and knowledge of music theory.
    • Experience teaching or working with young children, including those with special needs.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt to the unique learning styles and behavioral needs of children with compassion and flexibility.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with children and families.
    • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to students’ homes.
    • Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends.
