Are you a college student seeking a rewarding experience conducting research with a world-class engineering firm? The ARA Transportation Division (TD) is seeking paid research interns available to work part-time (20-30 hours per week) during the summer months.

Please note, this is an on-site position in either Champaign, IL or Madison, WI. No relocation assistance will be provided.

Under direct supervision, transportation research interns may perform any or all of the following tasks:

  • Create client-focused memoranda and summary information.
  • Help collect, prepare, and organize data and information on research or contracting activities in state departments of transportation (DOTs).
  • Provide text to support proposal development.
  • Prepare charts and preliminary analysis to support interviews with research and engineering stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a literature review and desk scan on transportation engineering research efforts.
  • Support other project tasks as necessary.

Additionally, upon graduation, interns with outstanding performance frequently move into full-time positions at ARA.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited U.S. college or university in one of the following areas:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Construction Management
    • Urban Planning
    • Business
    • Public Administration
  • Coursework in transportation-related topics preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The anticipated wage range for this position is $20-24/hr, depending on experience.
