The Early Intervention Breast Clinic (EIBC), led by ARA Health Specialists, offers specialized care for women with elevated breast cancer risk. Services include patient consultations for risk assessment, breast imaging guidelines, and breast cancer screening recommendations. The clinic encourages women to proactively participate in their breast health and risk reduction. The clinic services are currently provided by a Nurse Practitioner. ARAHS is looking to hire another APP to grow the clinic and its services.
Job Description:
The APP works together with ARAHS radiologists, imaging centers, and referring providers to identify those at elevated breast cancer risk and provides consultations with emphasis on breast imaging and education. The APP performs comprehensive risk assessments, educates women on their personal breast cancer risk and creates individualized breast cancer screening plans. The APP provides comprehensive biopsy care and collaborative patient care with radiologists, oncology specialists and primary providers for high-risk patients and those with a new breast cancer diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
· Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations using risk assessment tools to determine an individual's breast cancer risk.
· Genetic Counseling: Identify patients that meet criteria for genetic testing by personal and family history based on National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines. Order testing and provide counseling pre/post testing.
· Screening & Diagnostics: Create a personalized breast cancer screening plan based on individualized factors and current American College of Radiology (ACR) screening guidelines.
· Patient Education: Provide education on personal imaging studies, breast density, breast cancer risk, screening recommendations, and risk reduction. Consultations are offered in person and telehealth.
· Biopsy Management: Comprehensive breast biopsy care. Pre-biopsy imaging review, review of pathology results and follow-up recommendations, management of post-biopsy complications.
· Care Coordination: Initial pathology review for patients with new breast cancer diagnosis and referral coordination to surgical oncology.
· Collaboration: Maintain open communication and positive relationships with radiologists, referring physicians, nurse navigators and hospital administrative team members.
· Provider Outreach: Develop relationships with outside provider practices. Coordinate visits and presentations to review current breast cancer screening guidelines and recommendations for high-risk patients. Offer consultation services with EIBC.
· Attends monthly Breast Imaging Leadership Team Meetings.
· Actively participates in Hospital Breast Leadership and Breast Care Teams. Collaborates with High-Risk Women’s Program and participates in regular planning, implementation, and improvement meetings for the program
Requirements:
· Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant program
· Licensed by the state of North Carolina.
· Master's Degree and National Certification required
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
· Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, dependability, and work independently with little supervision.
