The Engineering & Science Division (ESD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc., (ARA) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems, and to investigate, evaluate, and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems. On site San Antonio, TX. Must be US Citizen and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical and electrical prototype conceptualization, design, fabrication, and testing.
- Feild testing, laboratory testing, troubleshooting.
- Determine theoretical principles involved and applying advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.
- Evaluates operational systems and designs modification to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements. Develops new applications requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity, and complex test procedures for equipment and systems which are significantly different from existing designs.
- Reviews and corrects drawings to ensure proper engineering techniques and required specification have been utilized.
- Develops, releases and maintains documentation in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
- Reviews, writes and edits reports such as evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, etc. to provide recommendations, conclusions, and other data.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Interested in solving challenging problems, entrepreneurial, and intrinsically motivated.
- Experience in, and desire to work all aspects of prototyping, testing, and research & development, projects from start to finish.
- Experience in, and desire to work with wearables, non-Newtonian fluids, data acquisition systems, robotics, military working dogs, programming, modeling and simulation, and unmanned underwater and arial vehicles.
- Experience in, and desire to work on data collection, management, analysis, and visualization.
- Experience writing progress reports, test plans, test reports, and technical presentations for customers.
- Personal technical interests and hobbies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Engineering with 2-4 years experience or Master's with 0-2 years experience
- US Citizen
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
