What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Analyst-SAS Programmer position at AQURATE HEALTH DATA MANAGEMENT, INC?
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a remote full-time position. Senior Data Analyst-SAS computer programmer will support managed care encounter data validation, HEDIS data validation and other projects by developing SAS programs and analyzing data and generating reports in a user-friendly format. This individual is responsible for conducting a variety of data validation activities including validation of encounter data, State specific performance measures, and HEDIS indicators.
DUTIES:
1. Conducts detailed analysis of managed care organization (MCO) encounter data for accuracy, completeness and internal consistency. Assists with design and ongoing modification of this analysis process. This is done by developing and maintaining SAS programs.
2. Demonstrates an understanding of MCO systems and assesses the adequacy of MCO systems to produce accurate and complete health care data.
3. Participates in writing technical reports, assessing the performance of managed care organizations on a variety of indicators.
4. Participates in data collection, validation and analysis as well as report generation for small-scale projects.
5. Maintains documentation of individual work and project-wide efforts on the departmental shared drive.
6. Assists in the design of data collection tools, maintains Access databases and Excel templates, and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data using SAS.
7. Assist in performing quality control and quality assurance of SAS programs developed by fellow SAS programmers.
8. Develop and maintain report templates in Excel.
9. May be required to interact with MCOs, state, and other client staff to obtain information needed for completing projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to contribute to the design. Extensive experience and proficiency in SAS programming required.
2. Knowledge and proficiency in reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc. is preferred but not require.
3. Knowledge and experience in SQL programming, MS Access is desired but not required.
4. Knowledge of NCQA HEDIS is preferred.
5. Good writing skills, with the ability to prepare good first drafts which present quantitative and qualitative review findings to interested parties with varying technical backgrounds.
6. Ability to manage time effectively and meet client deliverables.
7. Excellent oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, clients and staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum Bachelors degree
2. A minimum of 4-5 years of SAS programming experience
3. PC SAS programming experience programming in Base SAS 9.4 version, with primary focus on data manipulation, analysis and reporting.
4. Experience developing and maintaining code that includes SAS Macros, PROC SQL and PROC REPORT.
5. Import and export of txt, Excel and Access tables
6. Experience working and manipulating large datasets (5GB plus)
7. Experience with a variety of software packages, particularly Excel, Access and PowerPoint and Word.
