What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor Physiology position at Aquinas College?
The Department of Kinesiology at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position starting August 2026. The position requires a dynamic, student-centered, and collaborative faculty member who will contribute to the growth of the Applied Sport and Exercise Science and Clinical Exercise Science programs. The Assistant Professor will work under the direction of the Chairperson of the Department of Kinesiology and the Provost.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching: Teach 24 contact hours per year in Exercise Science coursework.
Student Advisement and Recruitment: Serve as an academic advisor and mentor, supporting students’ academic, professional, and personal development, and assist with recruitment of qualified students.
Scholarship: Develop a program of scholarship consistent with expectations for tenure and promotion, with an emphasis on engaging undergraduate students in the research process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sport Science, Health Sciences, or a closely related discipline (ABD candidates with a clear timeline for completion before August 2026 will also be considered).
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of exercise science and kinesiology.
Professional certifications such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP), Certified Athletic Trainer, or other relevant credentials.
Background in coaching preferred.
