Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Garden Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, gardening, landscape maintenance, experience working with various tools and plant care techniques. This role involves maintaining healthy and attractive outdoor spaces and assisting with farming activities. The Garden Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring our gardens and landscapes thrive through proper planting, watering, pruning, and general upkeep.
Duties
- Assist with planting, transplanting, and maintaining a variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Ensure proper watering schedules for all garden areas
- Conduct landscape maintenance activities such as edging, mulching, and cleanups
- Help with farming activities like crop planting, harvesting, and Maple sap collection
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure all tools are properly stored after use
- Follow safety protocols when handling equipment or working with chemicals
Qualifications
- Prior experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping, or agriculture is required
- Familiarity with growing techniques and plant care best practices
- Ability to operate hand tools (e.g., pruners, loppers, shovels) and power tools (e.g., trimmers, blowers) safely for pruning, trimming, planting, and soil preparation
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions; capable of lifting moderate loads, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Attention to detail and a passion for cultivating healthy plants, landscapes, producing fresh farm produce, cut flowers and Maple Syrup.
- Reliable work ethic, punctuality & the ability to follow instructions accurately
