Aquatic Control has been in the lake and pond management business for 57 years. Our staff consists of fisheries biologists and technicians with a combined 500 years of experience in aquatic vegetation management, fisheries management, product sales, and aquatic ecosystem management.
The Position
Aquatic Control is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations for a field-based aquatic management service company with approximately 100 employees, including applicators, technicians, and office staff.
Our employees work outdoors managing lakes, ponds, and water resources, operating equipment, applying aquatic herbicides, and traveling to customer sites. This role supports a hands-on workforce and ensures consistent hiring, training, compensation practices, and employee relations suited to a field service environment.
The HR Manager reports to the VP and works closely with operations, compliance, payroll, and field leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Hiring
- Lead recruitment for field-based roles including applicators, technicians, and seasonal employees.
- Coordinate hiring timelines around seasonal workload demands.
- Manage onboarding processes and hiring documentation.
- Ensure hiring practices align with company culture, values, and operational needs.
Employee Relations
- Support managers with disciplinary actions, performance management, and terminations.
- Conduct exit interviews and identify retention trends.
- Serve as a confidential resource for employees working in the field and away from the main office.
- Support and/or lead employee training and team building events
Compensation & Career Development
- Develop and maintain compensation ranges for key positions.
- Build career progression paths
- Support performance-based compensation decisions including merit and equity adjustments.
Training & Professional Development
- Evaluate and improve onboarding programs.
- Develop training programs tied to advancement and certification.
Safety & Compliance Coordination
- Partner with Safety & Compliance personnel on workforce-related safety initiatives.
- Support HR compliance related to field operations including drug testing procedures and driver qualification policies.
Benefits & Employee Support
- Assist with administration and communication of employee benefits.
- Educate employees about company health insurance and benefit programs.
- Provide guidance and support for workplace and employee concerns.
Policy Development
- Develop and maintain practical HR policies that support field operations, including areas such as drug testing, driver qualification, travel policies, and termination procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a field service, construction, environmental, agricultural, or similar industry.
- Experience supporting distributed teams and non-office employees.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, compensation planning, and HR policy implementation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
