Job Overview:

As a Retail Sales Associate at our aquarium retail store, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service by assisting customers with inquiries regarding freshwater fish and plant species. This role demands a proactive approach to ensure that customers receive products that align with their specific needs and preferences. Additionally, you will be expected to share your knowledge and expertise on proper care techniques for the aquatic species we have in-store.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assisting customers in selecting products, answering inquiries, and sharing product knowledge.
• Responsible for greeting customers and providing exceptional customer service.
• Responsible for achieving store sales targets through suggestive selling and promotional initiatives.
• Responsible for executing purchases and returns.
• Responsible for organizing and restocking inventory.
• Responsible for monitoring inventory for defective and/or damaged items.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
• Ensures the humane treatment of all animals in accordance with local regulations and animal care guidelines.
• Responsible for promptly and professionally resolving customer complaints and issues.
• All other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Strong knowledge of caring for freshwater fish and aquatic animals.
• Understanding of aquatic plants and their benefits to aquariums.
• High school diploma, general education degree, or equivalent.
• Service-oriented and able to resolve customer grievances.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal communication.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Background in sales.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Strong Attention to Detail.

Physical Requirements:

• Mobility: The ability to move within the office environment.
• Extended periods of standing: The role may involve long periods of standing.
• Manual dexterity: The ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, and phones.
• Visual acuity: Sufficient vision to read documents, screens, and other materials, as well as to analyze data and reports.
• Hearing and verbal communication: Clear hearing and speech abilities to effectively communicate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

Work Environment:

The Retail Associate position is on-site at our retail location in Edmonds, WA.
