What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk / Medical Assistant position at Aquarian Clinic?
Medical Assistant / Front Desk Hybrid — Aquarian Clinic (Tallahassee, FL)
Full-Time | On-Site | Reports to On-Site Nurse Practitioner
About Aquarian Health
Aquarian Health is a Advanced Primary Care practice that goes beyond primary care — combining hormone optimization, physician-supervised weight loss, and direct provider access under one roof. Our Tallahassee clinic is looking for a Medical Assistant / Front Desk Hybrid to be the anchor of the patient experience: the first person patients see and the clinical support our provider relies on throughout the day. This is a dual role for someone organized, personable, and comfortable moving between the exam room and the front desk while keeping everything running smoothly.
Who We're Looking For
You're equally comfortable rooming a patient and running the front desk — and you can switch between the two without dropping a ball. You take ownership of the patient experience from the moment someone walks in to the moment they check out. In a small, growing clinic, you're the kind of person who sees what needs doing and does it, rather than waiting to be told.
What You'll Bring
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical training (preferred)
- Prior experience in a medical office, clinic, or front desk role (preferred)
- Comfort with clinical tasks such as vitals, rooming patients, and assisting with procedures
- Familiarity with electronic health records and scheduling systems (we'll train on ours)
- Strong communication skills and a warm, professional presence with patients
- Solid organization and attention to detail — you keep the day on track
- Discretion and reliability in handling confidential patient information (HIPAA)
- High school diploma or equivalent
You'll Thrive Here If
- You like variety and don't want to do the same three tasks all day
- You take initiative and stay calm when the clinic gets busy
- You genuinely enjoy people and want patients to leave feeling taken care of
- You want to grow with a clinic that's building something, not just fill a seat
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist providers with clinical tasks and patient care
- Prepare patients for visits and procedures
- Manage front desk responsibilities, including patient check-in and check-out
- Schedule appointments and assist with patient communications
- Support clinic workflows and maintain a high standard of patient experience
- Perform any other work reasonably asked of you by your supervisor
Compensation
Compensation is paid in accordance with Aquarian Clinic's standard payroll practices and schedules (bi-weekly).
Paid Time Off & Holidays
Aquarian Clinic observes major U.S. federal holidays, during which the clinic may be closed and employees will not be scheduled to work unless otherwise specified. In addition to federal holidays, you will receive two (2) weeks of flexible paid time off per year (80 hours), scheduled with supervisor approval to ensure appropriate clinic coverage.
