Overview
We are seeking an energetic and reliable Yard Jockey with a CDL Class A license to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely maneuvering tractor-trailers, ensuring efficient movement of freight, and supporting our fleet operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be an essential part of our logistics process, maintaining smooth operations and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions to load, unload, and reposition freight
- Move refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment as needed for loading or staging purposes
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to ensure safety and compliance
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other equipment when necessary
- Assist with route driving for delivery drivers or yard transfers as required
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, load status, and yard activities
- Follow all safety protocols during vehicle operation and yard activities to prevent accidents or injuries
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A license with experience driving tractor-trailers in various configurations including manual transmissions
- 2-3 years of Class A experience in the last 3 years
- Must be 23 years of age
- Good MVR and CSA scores
- TWIC required
- Must have steel toed shoes and long pants
- Proven truck driving experience with freight handling, route driving, and yard operations
- Experience in load & unload procedures and supporting delivery drivers is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to commercial driving and yard operations
