The Lab Receiving Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and accurate intake of laboratory specimens and materials, which is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of lab operations. This position involves receiving, verifying, and documenting incoming samples and supplies, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards before processing. The associate acts as a liaison between delivery personnel and laboratory staff, facilitating timely communication and coordination. Attention to detail and adherence to protocols are paramount to prevent errors that could impact test results or patient care. Ultimately, the Lab Receiving Associate supports the laboratory’s mission by maintaining an organized and compliant receiving area that upholds regulatory and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming laboratory specimens, supplies, and equipment for accuracy and condition.
- Verify documentation accompanying shipments to ensure proper labeling and compliance with laboratory standards.
- Log and track all received items in the laboratory information system or inventory management software.
- Coordinate with laboratory personnel to distribute specimens and supplies to appropriate departments promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the receiving area to comply with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or irregularities in shipments to supervisors and relevant departments.
- Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels and notifying procurement when supplies are low.
- Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures related to specimen handling and biohazard materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data entry and inventory management systems.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and laboratory protocols accurately.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move laboratory supplies and specimens safely, typically up to 20 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or receiving environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Knowledge of biohazard safety and handling procedures.
- Certification in laboratory safety or related fields.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with multiple teams.

- Hours: 5:00-5:30am-2:00/2:30p
- Monday-Friday
