What are the responsibilities and job description for the MOHS Technician (Per-Diem) position at AQUA DERMATOLOGY MANAGEMENT LLC?
Water’s Edge Dermatology, an AQUA Dermatology portfolio practice, is Florida’s largest and most comprehensive full-service skin care provider in the Southeast, offering medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, vein care, and radiation oncology.
We have an immediate need for a Mohs Tech Assistant which will include Mohs histology procedures, tracking of all submitted Mohs specimens for processing and diagnosis, as well as the necessary recording of Quality Assurance and Quality Control for the Mohs Lab.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Is responsible for specimen handling, storage preservation, and identification; freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtone; staining and placing a tissue on slides and prepping reagents.
- Is responsible for the disposal of stains and the upkeep of the work area.
- Keeps equipment operational by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.
- Updates OSHA and CLIA records.
- Maintains patient identification.
- Documents in EMR as appropriate.
- Troubleshooting issues with fellow technicians and resolving any problems by examining and evaluating data; and selecting appropriate corrective steps.
- Conforms to all applicable HIPAA and safety guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education - This position requires completion of at least a High School Degree or equivalent with documented competency to work as a Mohs Technician.
Experience –2 years’ experience in histology or dermatology medical assisting/nursing HT (ASCP) and/or HTL (ASCP). Basic computer knowledge.
Communication – Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Work Style - Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed. Ability to analyze and interpret information, ability to interact and decipher information telephonically and electronically.
