SUMMARY

Evaluates design requests and assists in the preliminary designs and costing of wastewater treatment equipment. Performs operations, testing and reporting within pilot studies to meet objectives in coordination with other departments, at customer sites. Provides technical assistance to both Internal and External Customers including Consulting Engineers, end users, Plant Operators, Sales Representatives, Cost Estimating, and Customer Service with a focus on the development of strong relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Evaluate and report on the applicability of treatment processes based on received information including pilot reports, operational data, engineering reports, and/or email/verbal communication. 
2. Evaluate design requests and size equipment for water and wastewater treatment. Make recommendations suitable for requested application, while considering project drivers, and customer needs and interests.
   1. Develop preliminary process design reports for water and wastewater treatment systems encompassing biological, filtration, membrane, and/or ozone technologies, as assigned.
   2. Determine electrical and mechanical equipment costs and pricing for preliminary process designs.
3. Develop and implement test plans and operational protocols to meet technical and commercial company objectives in pilot testing based on the direction from R&D and Product Management. 
   1. Operate pilot units and provide instruction to on-site pilot testing personnel to ensure outcomes are aligned with company objectives.
   2. Manage data collection and interpretation from onsite pilot studies and lab-scale testing to prepare meaningful statistical evaluations, graphs, tabulations and accessibility by other internal departments.
   3. Generate effective written reports to convey findings and conclusions of testing to both internal and external customers.
4. Provide technical assistance to Internal and External clients including Consulting Engineers, End Users, Plant Operators, Sales Representatives, Sales Cost Estimating, and Customer Service with a focus on the development of strong relationships.
5. Travel (up to 40%) to present technical presentations of the systems operations, assist in trade show coverage, and to facilitate pilot testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be team oriented, self-motivated, and possess a strong process related background with proficient technical writing and communication skills. Must be knowledgeable of MS Office and Adobe software, database and spreadsheet software. Must possess basic mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must work well in a collaborative environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Usual office working conditions with moderate noise such as computers and printers, telephones and co-workers. Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, odor, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. Occasional travel to treatment plants in various locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field. A minimum of 5 years of related training and experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience, EIT or Professional Engineer is preferred.
