The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for custom metal fabrication projects. This role is essential for ensuring accurate bids and proposals, helping the company remain competitive and profitable. This role will also support outside sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer drawings (DXF/STP), specifications, bid packages and other documentation to create complete and accurate manufacturing estimates.
- Prepare job requirements, prepare job routers, and create bills of material to fabricate a product.
- Interact with customers directly to gather necessary information to quote jobs per print or per package.
- Actively engage with team members to continuously strive to improve process, create efficiencies, and reduce costs
- Contact and communicate with vendors and subcontractors to complete estimates. Utilize internal resources to complete estimates.
- Track and update pricing databases to ensure accurate estimating.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure estimates align with shop capabilities and lead times.
- Assist in project planning and scheduling based on awarded estimates.
- Work within company CRM system
- Generate and maintain good customer relations, both internally and externally.
- Take ownership of the customer experience and ensure customer loyalty.
- Ability to partner with leadership and adjust responsibilities with a growing company.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum [2-5] years of experience in estimating within the sheet metal or metal fabrication industry.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes including laser cutting, welding, forming, punching, and finishing.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with ERP systems and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SigmaNEST, FabTrol, or similar).
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
Working Conditions:
- Office setting with occasional visits to the production floor.
- Standard business hours with flexibility based on project demands.
- May require occasional travel to job sites or client meetings.

Pay: $62,000.00 - $70,319.09 per year
