What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at APX Net?
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and dedicated candidate to join our expanding Engineering team. This role will require a broad array of technical knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills to support a wide range of equipment. The primary responsibilities include supporting our NOC team and customers on escalated connectivity issues, provisioning routers and leading the implementation of network monitoring and other strategic technologies. The qualified individual will possess superior complex problem solving and customer-facing skills with the ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations. The capacity to work independently as well as part of a team is critical. Essential Functions:Configure routersSetup IP routingProvision circuit monitoring services – ICMP, SNMPServe as a technical escalation point for NOC team when standard troubleshooting does not resolve an issueCollaborate with peers, customers, and carriers to resolve issuesPart of on-call rotation scheduleAccurately track and document all technical issues in portalCreate documentation for tracking customer circuit design and level of monitoring servicesStay current with technology changes, updates, and practicesDesign and perform integration of new technologies Experience/Skills Required:Degree in IT relevant field and/or equivalent certifications6 years’ experience troubleshooting escalated connectivity issues (preferably working for a carrier)Network monitoring toolsLayer 2 and 3 network conceptsProvisioning routersFamiliarity with American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN)WAN/LAN networking conceptsBasic firewall concepts/configurationsSD TechnologyRouting protocolsBGP TechnologyAdvanced ExcelExceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate with peers and to present and explain highly technical information to stakeholders with limited technical knowledge
